The Kangaroo Room focuses on school readiness, helping children develop the skills they need for a confident transition to primary school. About the Kangaroo Rooms
The Kangaroo Room is our Preschool & School Readiness Program, designed to prepare children for a smooth and confident transition to primary school. With a focus on early literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and self-help skills, children leave our program feeling independent and ready for big school.
What We Offer
- School Readiness Program – We introduce structured learning experiences that develop essential skills in reading, writing, numeracy, and critical thinking, preparing children for a formal classroom setting.
- Advanced Self-Help Skills – Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their daily routines, including packing their bags, setting up meal spaces, and managing personal care, fostering independence and confidence.
- Interactive & Engaging Learning – Our curriculum is play-based but structured, blending guided learning activities with open-ended exploration to build problem-solving, creativity, and resilience.
- Lunchbox Weeks – To ease the transition into school life, we introduce lunchbox weeks, where children practice opening containers, managing meal times independently, and making healthy food choices.
- Flexible Rest & Relaxation – We recognise that all children have different needs. Our program includes optional rest time or meditation, allowing children to recharge in a way that suits them.
About the Start Strong Program. Helping Families with Fees
Bowral Street Childcare participates in the NSW Government’s Start Strong Program, which helps make early learning more accessible by reducing fees for families. This funding supports children in receiving quality early education in the year before school, ensuring they develop key skills for a smooth transition to kindergarten.
